Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Edith Rienert Hayward, Sr. and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1953. He enjoyed a career in sales, working well into his 80s before retiring from Curtis Industrial of Philadelphia, PA.
Bob was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Speigletown. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, his RV, and spending time at the Troy Senior Center as well as with his family. Bob was a long-time member of the Eagle Mills Fire Department.
Beloved husband for 73 years of Polly; devoted father of Mark R. (Terri Antonelli) Hayward Sr. of Sarasota, FL, Robert E. (Roberta) Hayward, Jr. of Ballston Lake; and cherished grandpa of Jennifer (Greg) Salamone, Mark R. (Kristine) Hayward Jr. and Daniel R. (Stephanie) Hayward; adored great-grandpa of Dominick Salamone, Madelynn Salamone, Cameron Hayward, Elena Hayward, and Katelynn Hayward, who is due to arrive this week; father-in-law of Janice Hayward. Also survived by nephew Clark Hayward. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Clarence E. Hayward Sr.
